Every year the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) holds their Annual Convention & World Languages Expo. The convention is a sort of super meeting of all foreign languages being taught in the United States, with teachers and administrators flying in from all over the world to attend. The motto: “Many Languages: One United Voice” is aptly chosen, since the ACTFL has become the national standard for how foreign languages should be taught in the 21st Century (check out the PDF for their Standards For Foreign Language Learning).
This year, from November 16-18, thousands of teachers from every language taught around the world will gather at Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center to talk about such topics as: language assessment; culture; curriculum design; teaching methods/techniques and (of course) technology in the classroom. It is our pleasure to also announce that Skritter will be there showing off the new iOS apps, giving demos, talking about institutional services, and just generally talking about our favorite character learning tool!
If you are a teacher or administrator and plan on visiting the convention be sure to stop by Booth #1322 and say hello, we would love to meet you all in person. If you are a student thinking about becoming a foreign language teacher this convention could be a great way to get your foot in the door, and make long lasting connections with people who work in the industry.
We look forward to seeing you in November, and if you have any questions please leave them in the comments below.
