Skritter Chinese iOS App: First Month

In Uncategorized by Skritter

author photoWe launched the Skritter Chinese iOS app a month ago, so we thought we’d share a few tidbit stats as to how the app is doing so far.

Skritter usage has almost doubled. Not what you’d normally expect for an educational app in the summer months, where US students are out of school.

Skritter Chinese has an average rating of 4.8 for our latest version, with 134 total reviews across App Stores in 20 countries since launch. (Even with the terrible bug in the first seven days where the third thing the user saw was a black screen, netting us 14 one-star reviews from confused newcomers, it somehow averaged a 4.4 for that version.) People are loving it and buying iOS devices forty to the dozen just to use it.

Skritter Chinese has been ranked in the top-five highest grossing education apps in 17 countries. This is not just for Chinese, but all education apps.

The app has been reviewed on eighteen great Chinese language learning blogs, which are listed at the end of our launch blog post.

Thanks for making this launch a success for us! In the last month, apart from answering a zillion more emails than normal, we’ve been working to fix some app stability bugs, and to do some heavy refactoring on the web version, preparing it for some new features and optimizations. Scott has moved about twenty tons of code around on beta, setting the foundations for long-overdue improvements. (Which ones? Good question. There are many things at the top of our list: the effect of focusing on the app so long.)
