What a difference a few months make! Ever since Roland’s post on German definitions in February we have been making massive progress on our dictionary definitions. The April newsletter calling for more ballers helped too; we received many volunteers, and I was busy for a couple weeks just getting everyone set up and oriented with our quirky vocab editing system. We’ve gotten a number of things done in the meantime:
- Set up over a dozen new ballers to work on various dictionaries.
- Caught up entirely on a couple large backlogs of corrections: English to Japanese and German to English. Thanks especially to g1itch, who is responsible for greatly improving our English to Japanese dictionary
- We are continuing to make significant progress on several others dictionaries
- And we made several improvements to the tool we use to edit definitions and handle corrections, streamlining the whole process so we can get more done faster. Thanks to the new ballers for helping me identify all the things that needed to be done!
So progress is definitely being made; thanks to everyone for your continued work. We’re still looking for people to work on Russian definitions for both Japanese and Chinese, though. Remember, for as long as you’re a baller and doing regular work you get to use Skritter for free. Let me know at scott @ skritter.com if you want to join!
